Recipe for Tooth Aches
In 1 teaspoon of alcohol, add 3 drops of clove or cinnamon essential oil.
Soak a cotton ball in the above solution and apply on the aching tooth for 5-8 minutes.
Caution: Cinnamon and Clove Essential oils are very powerful and should not be used for long periods (not more than 2-3 days). Also, try to avoid contact with gums and do not swallow.
Recipes for Gingivitis
Some essential oils have the ability to tighten the gums while protecting also from periodontitis.
You can make mouth wash with the following recipes.
OPTION1: In 1 tablespoon alcohol, dilute 2 drops of peppermint oil and 2 drops of myrrh.
OPTION2: In 100 ml rose water (hydrosol), add 10 drops of myrrh essential oil, 10 drops tea-tree and 10 drops of bergamot.
OPTION3: In 100 ml rose water (hydrosol) of mastic, add 10 drops of myrrh essential oil and 10 drops bergamot.
How to use: Choose one of the above 3 options and do mouth wash after brushing your teeth.
OPTION4: In 10 ml calendula oil, add 2 drops of myrrh essential oil, 2 drops bergamot and 2 drops tea-tree.
By using your fingers, do massage on the gums using Option4 above.
Recipes for Oral Herpes
OPTION1: In 10 ml jojoba oil, add 2 drops of essential geranium oil, 2 drops lemon and 2 tea-tree.
OPTION2: In 1 teaspoon aloe gel, add 2 drops of chamomile essential oil, 2 drops geranium and 2 drops neroli.
Using a cotton swab, soak it in the solutions above and apply on your lips where you feel pain.
Recipe for bad mouth breath
In 1 tablespoon alcohol, dilute 2 drops of bergamot essential oil or 2 drops clove EO.
Make a mouth wash with the above solution after brushing your teeth.
Mix 1 teaspoon of dried sage leaves (crushed powder), 1/2 teaspoon baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon salt and then add a little amount of almond oil to create a paste mixture. This mixture is ideal for bad breath while also whitening your teeth.
Recipes for Canker Sores
OPTION1: In 1 glass of fresh water, add 3 drops of tea-tree essential and 3 drops of peppermint or cinnamon.
OPTION2: In 1 glass of fresh water, add 3 drops of bergamot essential oil and 3 drops lemon oil.
Use one of the options above as mouth wash for 30 seconds (3 times a day).
* Before using essential oils you should always dilute them in 1 tablespoon alcohol (e.g vodka, cognac etc).
